The DeSales learning community seeks to nurture the unique talents and abilities of its members by providing a variety of learning experiences both in and out of the classroom. DeSales takes pride in its “Teach-nology” Initiative that purposefully integrates technology into the teaching-learning process. Immersion Week offers students experiences outside the classroom to show that learning is a life-long process that happens in a variety of settings. Each of our three diploma tracts is designed to provide students with courses that challenge and complement their abilities and interests. A DeSales student understands very quickly the importance of Learning First.
In order to meet the needs of its diverse student population,
DeSales has designed three programs of study.
The Academic Program is designed for students who may or may not be planning to attend college or junior college upon graduation from high school. It is set up to ensure that students earn the required credits prescribed in the Kentucky Core Curriculum while allowing the possibility of participating in the UPS School to Work Program in the senior year. Students who struggle academically, particularly in the areas of reading, language, and/or mathematics will benefit the most from the Academic Program of Studies.
The Honors Program is designed for students who will definitely attend college upon graduation from high school. It is set up to prepare students for taking calculus and AP courses (English, science, studio art, international language, and/or social studies) in his junior and/or senior year. It requires a minimum of three years of French or Spanish with the option of a fourth. Students who demonstrate strength in the areas of reading, language and mathematics will benefit the most from the Honors Program of Studies.
The Scholastic Program is designed for students who plan to attend college or junior college upon graduation from high school. It is set up to ensure that students earn the required credits prescribed in the Kentucky Core Curriculum while allowing the possibility of participating in the UPS School to Work Program in the senior year.
