At their 25th class reunion, the alumni of the class of 1966 embarked upon a project to renovate the
flag pole area on the front lawn at DeSales and establish a memorial
to honor all DeSales alumni veterans.
On October 7, 2005, the DeSales Alumni Veterans Memorial was dedicated in a ceremony with DeSales students, alumni, Mayor Abramson and other dignitaries in attendance. The Memorial is a brick-style walkway in the shape of a five-pointed star located in the front of the school. Each appendage of the star represents a specific branch of the military — Army, Navy, Air Force, United States Marine Corps, and the Coast Guard.
At each appendage there is a plaque stating the names of those alumni who
died while serving in that particular branch of service.
Below these plaques are brick pavers with names of DeSales alumni
who have served in each branch. If you are an alumnus interested in adding your name to the others who have served, you may do so at a price of $75.00.
Example:
John A. Doe (NAME)
Class of 1967 (DESALES CLASS YEAR)
USN 1968-1974 (BRANCH & YEARS OF SERVICE)
These bricks are for DeSales alumni only who have served in the Armed Forces, are
currently active, or are reservists.
DeSales also welcomes donations to assist in the maintenance and
upkeep of the memorial. Or you may know of a fellow alumnus that
is missing from the monument who died in service. Please
