Who’s invited: CSAA coaches and parents
The 2010 CSAA Coaches Convention is a chance for your coaches to get to know
members of coaching staffs in the area. Featured programs will be DeSales,
Trinity, St. Xavier, Holy Cross and Bethlehem. Each coach will discuss a
particular topic in his area of expertise. This a great way for your coaching
staff to prepare for the upcoming season and prepare your players for the high
school they attend.

DeSales Basketball versus Trinity on Friday, February 19 (JV
4:30, FR 6:00, Varsity 7:30). This is the final home
basketball game of the season. Come out and cheer on the

Finish Runner-Up in State Tournament
The Shelby Valley Wildcats beat DeSales 46-37 in a
January 31 championship game of the All “A” Classic at
McBrayer Arena on the campus of EKU. The Colts were led
by Nick Roush with 10 points and Derek Thornberry with 8.
DeSales was playing in its first-ever All "A" State
Tournament.

DeSales East-West All-Stars
Congratulations to DeSales seniors Dominique Boyd and Ryan
Johnson, who are among the 75 players statewide chosen to
participate in the "Best of the Bluegrass" East-West All-Star
Football Game on June 18 at Western Kentucky University.

DeSales Wrestlers Advance to State Competition
DeSales sophomore wrestler Trevor Ford was named
Region 3 Most Valuable Wrestler after pinning three opponents
in a total of 79 seconds on his way to the heavyweight title
Saturday at DeSales in the Regional Tournament. Ford
capped his performance by pinning Holy Cross' Jeremy Glass in
40 seconds. His other pins came at 0:16 and 0:23. Congratulations
to Trevor and to junior Zach Goldsmith, who placed fourth.
Both advance to the state tournament this week at the
Frankfort Convention Center in Frankfort, KY.

DeSales/Holy Cross Game Shirts
The Campus Store will be selling special orange camouflage
T-shirts for the DeSales vs. Holy Cross basketball game, which
is Sunday, 2/7 at Bellarmine. The T-shirts should be in
the Campus Store Thursday afternoon and will sell for $15.00.
The store will also be open Friday morning 7:30 to 11:30 am
and again Friday night during the home basketball games from
4:30 to 9:00 pm.

Holy Cross
Game Time Change - Conflict with Super Bowl Sunday
In order to avoid a conflict with the Super Bowl, the annual
DeSales/Holy Cross rivalry game on February 7th has been moved
up from 7:30 pm to 3:30 pm. The JV game will be at 2:00 pm.
The game will be played at Bellarmine University.• Trinity Game Rescheduled -
Snow Make-Up Game
The January 8th game versus Trinity that was postponed due to
snow has now been rescheduled for Friday, February 19. The
game will tip-off at 7:30 pm at DeSales. Freshman play at 4:30
pm and the JV at 6:00 pm.

Track Sign-Ups/Conditioning
There will be a Track Team meeting and sign-ups on Wednesday,
Jan 13, 2010, at 2:00 pm in the Cafeteria. Conditioning
will start Wednesday, Jan 20 at 2:00 pm. Conditioning
will be held on Mondays at 3 pm, Wednesdays at 2 pm and
Thursdays at 3 pm until Feb 16. If it is below 35
degrees, raining, or snowing, conditioning is canceled.

Cross Country Banquet
The Cross Country team will be celebrating the 2009 season
at a banquet on Sunday, January 17, at 5:30 pm at Marks Feed
Store on 10316 Dixie Highway. The cost will be $10.50
per person including runners. Please RSVP by January 9th to
Coach Wise if you plan on attending. All are welcome!

Cornhole Tournament
December 12
Baseball will be hosting a Cornhole Tournament this Saturday
in Dodge Gym. Registration begins at 6:00 PM with
first toss at 7:00 PM. If you would like to pre
register please email Head Coach, Ryan Wheat at
coachwheat@coltsbaseball.org.
Also any student interested in
playing baseball this year needs to contact Coach Wheat as

Internet Safety Seminar at DeSales on Nov. 18
DeSales High School will be hosting a Parent Information
Session for parents, faculty, staff, and alumni on the
topic: Internet Safety: Parenting the Computer Savvy Teen.
The program will be presented on Wednesday, November 18th,
at 6:30 pm in the DeSales Chapel by Dr. Tom Robbins and Ms.
Nancy Delaney.Dr. Robbins and Ms. Delaney will take a
sobering look at the dangers our teens face while online –
namely the risks of online bullying and cyber-predators.
They will discuss the tactics predators use to build
relationships with teens and teach parents how to avert and
intercept this predatory activity. Are you fully aware
of the dangers you children face while online?

on Saturday, November 21, 2009, during the Fall Meet at
Churchill Downs. "DeSales Day at the Downs" will
convene on Skye Terrace, where attendees will enjoy
indoor seating and an outdoor balcony that affords
a spectacular view of the legendary track and finish line.

November. Those dates are currently being set, with

There will be three
Parent Meetings regarding the "Stand
Up, Stand Out, Stand Proud!" Campaign for DeSales at the end
of October. DeSales will take these opportunities to
announce to parents the projects underway at school and the
exciting plans for the near future. A mailing regarding
this information was mailed on Tuesday, October 13.
All
parents are requested to attend one of these three meetings.

Suicide Prevention Speaker at DeSales
DeSales will
host a Parent Night on
Wednesday,
October 14 at 7 PM in the cafeteria. The speaker will
be Vince Gottbrath, who will discuss suicide prevention and
how to detect the early signs of depression.

Class of 1979 Reunion
The Class of 1979 will meet during "DeSales Day at the
Downs" on Millionaire's Row at Churchill Downs on Saturday,
November 21. Millionaire's Row features indoor seating in a
climate-controlled environment with the opportunity to view
the races from an outdoor balcony. Your ticket includes
admission to the track with a seat in the Millionaires Row
dining room, a race-day program and a chef's table buffet
brunch available from 11:00 am - 2:30 pm...

Halloween Mixer at DeSales
Mark your calendars and start planning your costumes!!
The DeSales Soccer Team will be hosting a Halloween Dance on
Saturday, October 31st at DeSales High School. The
dance will be from 8:30 pm to 12:00 am. Costume prizes
will be awarded. The dance is open to all students and
their guests, as well as prospective 8th graders.
Ticket prices are $15.00/couple or $8.00/individual. Details

Cross Country Results
The Cross Country varsity team kicked off
it's season with an impressive 3rd place finish at Nelson
County in the Bernard Keene Inv. on Sept. 14. The
Colts placed 4 runners in the top 21 of the field of 95
runners to capture 3rd place. The Colts defeated several
traditional powers, most notably North Hardin and regional
rival Bardstown.
Freshman Nico Casper led the way for the Colts finishing
11th with a time of 19:25. Troy Mattingly finished 17th,
Travis Gregory 20th and Matt Garcia 21st.

Family Fundraiser
A fundraiser will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday,
September 20, at First String Grill & Pub for the McConnell
family's medical expenses. Register to win a gas grill
or a 40" HD LCD TV, sponsored by Bonnie Castle Appliances
and First String Grill & Pub.

Cross Country Results
The JV Cross Country team finished 2nd at Danville's E.J.
Plummer Memorial Inv. on Saturday, Sept. 12. The
team (short handed due to injuries, the flu, ACT Test and
soccer) finished just behind Class AAA power Henry Clay and
40 points in front of Class AA power West Jessimine.
The Colts were let by Troy Mattingly who won the race in a
time of 20:14. Eric Sivado finished 5th and Matt O'Brien
finished 7th. Each had season best times of 21:42 and 22:23.
The Colts travel to Nelson Co HS on Monday and then on to SW
Pulaski on Saturday.

Attention Cross Country Alums!
You are invited to the 17th annual DeSales
Cross Country Invitational Saturday, October 24, at McNeely
Lake Park. Many of you remember running in this race known
as one of the most well attended events of the cross country
season in Jefferson County. This event was brought back to
life by Coach Paul Wise in the early ‘90’s.
In addition, next year in 2010, the
DeSales Cross Country program will host a reunion to
coincide with the 40th anniversary of DeSales’
three State Championships. This is an early invitation
to all former cross country runners and coaches to plan for
this event. Tentatively, the plan is for a Friday evening
gathering perhaps at a football game with a social to follow
and then for all to come to the invitational on Saturday.

This week features action from all four varsity sports,
including Friday night's big football game with Holy Cross
at Manual Stadium. You can catch the DeSales/HC game
on TV on a tape delayed basis on WNDA Indiana 9 and WYCS 24
(Insight Cable channels 98 and 138) Friday night at 10:30
pm.A re-broadcast of the game will be shown Saturday at 8
pm and Sunday at 2 pm on WNDA Indiana and Sunday at 8 pm and
