  • This scholarship opportunity is from the Norton Healthcare High School Scholarships Program for 2006. The $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students majoring in one of the following academic programs: registered nurse, medical technologist, medical lab technician, physical therapist, radiology technologist, respiratory therapist, or ulotransonographer. To qualify to apply you must have a B average (3.0 GPA) and an ACT score of 20 or higher as well as major in one of the designated fields. See Ms. Probus for an application. The deadline is fast approaching.

  • Attention Seniors: The Bernard C. Harris Memorial Scholarship Program helps worth Catholic high school students reach their educational goals by awarding $1,000.00 scholarships to graduating seniors (one from each region of the U.S.). For the program information and application forms simply visit their website at www.harrisconnect.com/scholarship. The candidate must demonstrate strong entrepreneurial spirit, financial need, superior family values, a minimum GPA of 3.0. See Ms Probus with questions and submit your application – totally completed in time to meet the deadline date of March 10.

  • Attention Seniors who are considering a major in pre-med or pre-dentistry. You can attend the Professional Education Preparation Program this summer from June 17 – July 21, 2006. It is an academic enrichment and career exploration program designed to help potential pre-medical and pre-dental students prepare for their transition into college and to become competitive applicants for professional school. The applicant requirements are as follows: Must be a high school senior interested in medicine or dentistry, have minimum GPA of 3.0 and a minimum ACT of 20 or minimum SAT of 950. HOW TO APPLY: Current high school seniors in Kentucky are eligible to apply. Applicants must submit a completed application along with requested materials by March 17, 2006.   • Attention Seniors: It is not to late to apply to Thomas More College – a smaller college located near Cincinnati. Thomas More also has scholarships and financial aid available. Students need to apply by March 20th so they won’t miss out!

  • Attention seniors: If you have a 2.5 GPA or higher, then you should apply for a scholarship with the Collegiate Scholars Scholarship. The selection Committee will consider the following: creative ability, community involvement, academic achievement, obstacles overcome, quality of character, meaningful objective achieved, life goals and interests, demonstrated leadership, athletic achievement. Please see Ms. Probus for an application. The deadline is March 24.

  • Attention Seniors: Yes another scholarship opportunity. IF you qualify – APPLY! This is for the Brandon Tong Memorial Scholarship. The selection committee for the Brandon Tong Memorial Scholarship will consider the following: 1. The desire to go to college in spite of challenges associated with learning differences or academic struggles. 2. Quality of Character. 3. Life goals and interests. 4. Tenacity. 5. Must have applied to and been accepted into a 2 or 4 year college. Please see Ms. Probus immediately for an application. The deadline is the end of March!

  • L & N Federal Credit Union is now taking applications for the Frank H. Moore Memorial Scholarship. Members, or children of members, can apply for the scholarship. The deadline to apply is March 31st. The winner will be awarded $500.00 annually or $250.00 a semester, renewable, providing the student maintains a 2.5 GPA. The maximum scholarship per student is $2,000.00 over a four year period. You may pick up a scholarship brochure at any of the branch locations – the closest of which is at Southern Parkway. If you or your parents belong to L & N Federal Credit Union – APPLY! See Ms. Probus if you have questions.

  • Attention seniors: the KFC Colonel’s Scholars Program is a newly-created scholarship dedicated to assisting students with financial need who plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree in KY. To qualify, you must maintain a GPA of 2.75 or higher and plan to attend a public, in-state college or university and pursue a bachelors degree. Scholars may begin their college career by entering into either a 2-or 4-year accredited college/university as long as they are on track to complete their bachelors degree. Students complete their application online at www.kfcscholars.org. The deadline is March 31. This is an opportunity for more FREE money seniors – so apply! You could earn a $5,000 scholarship!

  • Attention Sophomores: Portfolio Plus is offered by Washington University in St Louis’ College of Art. This is a summer program that runs from June 12 – July 15 with the application due by April 1. Portfolio Plus allows students to take a drawing class with options in photography, printmaking and more. Students earn six college credits and complete the program with all their work documented in slide form. Limited Scholarship assistance is available. See Ms. Probus ASAP for more information.

  • Attention seniors-a scholarship opportunity: If you are pursuing a career in Law, Engineering, Teaching, Medicine or Christian Ministry and demonstrate an academic record indicating the ability to succeed at college and plan to attend college in Jefferson County, KY as a full-time student than you can apply for the Louis-Edward Nicklies Scholarship. You must also demonstrate some type of financial need! See Ms. Probus ASAP as the application must be processed well before Spring Break.

  • Attention seniors: your service hours are due May 1. You should have 80 total hours with a minimum of 50 hours to a non-profit organization.

  • Attention Juniors: Washington University in St. Louis offers several summer programs for students who wish to experience college academics and life on campus. You can choose courses in the arts, humanities, sciences and social sciences. Participants may earn up to seven college credits and there is limited scholarship assistance available. The programs are generally three weeks in length. If you are interested in applying – please see Ms. Probus for the details.

  • Attention seniors: don’t forget to have your parents fill out the FAFSA form!

  • Attention all students: Any of you who have not created an online account at www.GoHigherKy.org can do so now and have a chance to win an Apple iPod Shuffle. A drawing will be held each month in 2006 from all the students who set up an account. www.GoHigherKy.org is the Web portal that guides you through the entire college preparation experience, from early planning, selection, application and admissions to financial aid. This is a win-win deal! Not only will you have access to great college information, you might even win an iPod.

  • Seniors: Another scholarship opportunity: The Florence Barry Scott Education Scholarship Application is now available from Ms. Probus. You must have at least a 3.0 overall grade-point average on a 4.0 scale and not receiving a full scholarship for the total expenses of tuition, books and room and board from another source. In order to apply you will complete the applications, provide three teacher recommendations, and provide a 500 word essay describing your chosen career path and goals. See Ms. Probus ASAP to obtain an application. There are many seniors who qualify for this scholarship!

  • Attention seniors: If you are considering an application to Centre College – they have extended their free on-line application deadline. Please get on-line to apply for admission and scholarship this week! See Ms. Probus with questions.

  • Any junior who has a 3.5 GPA or above – should listen to this opportunity: Murray State University is offering the Commonwealth Honors Academy this summer (June 10 through July 1) to which you can apply NOW! We have many seniors who were accepted into this prestigious program last year – each of them recommends it highly! See Ms. Probus for an application. If you qualify with a 3.5 GPA and are active in your school community – you are encouraged to apply! You can earn 6 college credit hours and meet great friends and earn a scholarship!
