DeSales Code of Conduct: Philosophy

In keeping with our mission, DeSales High School seeks to create a safe, positive and orderly Catholic Christian learning environment. Many factors come in to play when doing so.

The school recognizes that students who attend DeSales are at a point in life that is both complex and sometimes confusing - childhood is behind them and adulthood awaits them. It is therefore the responsibility of the school and all its members to help students develop the attitudes/values and skills/behaviors needed to successfully navigate the rough seas of adolescence in preparation for adulthood.

DeSales High School is a learning COMMUNITY. It is made up of many members. Living and working in a community often requires a willingness and the ability to look at situations from the perspective of another and the common good rather than one's own.

Finally, the choice of DeSales for one's education is a choice of values. Adoption of these values defines what it means to be a DeSales student and is the true source of Colt Pride. These values should guide decisions and actions, both those of individuals and the school as a whole. The DeSales community is committed to these core values:
  • reverence for God
  • respect for the dignity of the human person
  • cooperation and care for self and others
  • integrity
  • self-discipline
