Get to Know Jill Bowman, Post-Secondary Guidance Counselor

In January 2020, DeSales welcomed Jill Bowman to the team as the post-secondary guidance counselor, and she hit the ground running. “From the moment I interviewed, I felt that DeSales was a place that I saw myself desiring to work and really felt that I “fit” here! DeSales has a family-like atmosphere and a team approach in serving students that I value,” said Ms. Bowman.

What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?  

I love that I get to interact and work with students one-on-one and in small groups. I love helping and supporting students find their passion and career path after high school. 

 

What do you think has been the most positive change/impact since your time at DeSales, and why? 

I hope that students see me as personable, approachable, and easy to talk to. I really enjoy working with and supporting students!

 

What is your proudest moment at DeSales?  

My proudest moment at DeSales was first and foremost getting hired! I was so excited to accept the opportunity to work at DeSales. Additionally, I have enjoyed working with the awesome students, helping students complete scholarship applications, and working with students to find post-secondary schools and opportunities that fit them.

 

What is your motto or personal mantra?  

Don’t wish for it, work for it. 

 

 Be kind - it’s all that really matters!

 

What would others be surprised to find out about you? 

Typically in the summer, we grow a family garden and can vegetables. Also, I am the oldest of six kids.  

 

What were you like as a student? 

I was very serious, quiet, and hard-working!

 

How do you show school spirit? 

I like to attend games and participate in events that the school is hosting. I also like to wear my DeSales attire in my community, as I am so proud of being a member of DeSales.
