Kari Cummins Ogle has devoted much of her life to Catholic education, faith formation, and service. A Louisville native and 1986 graduate of Assumption High School, Kari continued her education at Spalding University and earned her Master Catechist Certification through the Archdiocese of Louisville. Kari spent 22 years working in faith formation at the parishes of St. Raphael, St. Gabriel, St. Aloysius, St. Martha, and St. Bernard before joining St. Francis DeSales High School, where she has taught Theology for the past seven years.
Kari’s commitment to service extends well beyond the classroom. She served as a lobbyist for domestic violence issues from 1999 to 2001 and received the Wayside Christian Mission Outstanding Volunteer Award in 2008. Some of her favorite memories at DeSales involve students serving others, including making Christmas stockings for the Wayside Christian Family Shelter and hosting a Christmas party for shelter residents. She is also a longtime member of St. Martha Parish and a member of the Queen’s Daughters.
Kari credits retired DeSales colleagues Coach Mac and Wanda Trigg, along with her principal, Dr. Quirk, as mentors who welcomed her to DeSales and helped her find her place in the school community. She and her husband, Ronald, are the proud parents of ten children, including DeSales alumni Justin Ogle ’21, and Dray Ogle ’25. Through her teaching, faith, and service, Kari has helped generations of students experience the values and spirit of the DeSales community.
