Ways of Giving
Annual Fund
The Fr. Jude Cattelona Annual Fund represents the cornerstone of charitable giving at DeSales High School. Gifts to the Annual Fund are unrestricted and support a variety of operational costs, including educational programs, capital needs and financial aid.
The Annual Fund is an important source of revenue because it helps DeSales “bridge the gap” between the actual cost of educating a student and the amount of tuition that is collected.
Gifts to the Annual Fund provide operational and mission-critical support and assist DeSales in meeting the educational needs of young men throughout Louisville and the surrounding counties. Read More
Gifts of Cash
A gift of cash can be one of the most convenient ways to make a planned gift. To make a gift of cash, you may send us a check or money order. Please let us know if you want your gift used for a specific purpose by indicating that purpose either in the memo line or in a letter to us. Online giving is a convenient option for one-time and recurring gifts.
Gifts of Securities
Make a bigger impact by donating long-term appreciated securities, including stock, bonds, and mutual funds, directly to DeSales. Compared with donating cash, or selling your appreciated securities and contributing the after-tax proceeds, you may be able to automatically increase your gift and your tax deduction.
Event Sponsorships
DeSales High School offers several events to support the school throughout the year while also recognizing your organization. Events include the Benefit Feast Gala, DeSales Day on the Grounds tasting event, Alumni Golf Scramble, DeSales Day at the Downs, Hall of Honors Awards Ceremony, and more. Read More
Endowment
The DeSales High School endowment is in place to secure the school’s financial future. Interest earned from the Foundation endowment contributions may be used for:
- Tuition assistance for students
- Facility improvements
- Teacher salary enhancement

IRA Charitable Gift Rollover
A charitable IRA rollover is a gift option that enables donors age 70½ or older to transfer up to $100,000 directly from the donor’s IRA (or IRAs) to a qualified charity each year. The donor does not recognize the transfer as taxable income on his or her tax return. By the same token, this transfer may not be claimed as a charitable income tax deduction. Charitable rollover amounts may count toward the client’s required minimum distribution.
Matching Gifts
Many companies participate in matching gift programs. Some companies will even match gifts made by retirees and spouses of employees. The donor fills out a form supplied by his or her company and sends it to DeSales High School along with his or her gift. Ask your Human Resource Department about matching gifts to discover how you can make your gift go even further. For questions about matching gifts, please email the Advancement Office.
Memorial or Tribute Gift
If there is someone special in your life who shares your connection to DeSales High School, establishing a memorial or tribute gift is a meaningful way to honor that person or celebrate a special occasion such as a birthday or holiday. Your memorial or tribute gift will be a lasting tribute to that special person. You may make a memorial or tribute gift by check or online.
Pledges and Major Gifts
Gift payments to spread over a period of time may make giving easier. Pledge payments may be scheduled based on the individual’s needs and may be paid monthly, quarterly or annually, depending on the individual’s desire. Please contact Jaclyn Grieshaber, Director of Advancement, at (502) 883-2438.
Monthly Giving
Recurring giving is an easy, flexible, green way to make a difference every day at DeSales. Simply select an amount to be billed to your credit card each month or complete a recurring giving form to draft directly from your bank account. Your monthly gift creates a reliable source of funding year-round for DeSales High School. Your gift will be charged automatically each month and may be modified at any time you desire. Scholarships
Named scholarships are an excellent way of honoring the life of a teacher, friend or loved one while supporting the young men who attend DeSales. Contact DeSales High School about requirements for establishing a scholarship. Individuals may also contribute to a currently named scholarship on a one-time or recurring basis.
Establishing a Class Scholarship is another way that alumni of DeSales can support and honor future Colts. Through a Class Scholarship, funds can be awarded to students who have demonstrated financial need. Planned Giving

Volunteer
There are many volunteer opportunities at DeSales High School that include planning and setting up events, serving on a board or committee, serving at the annual open house, working the phonathon, and more. Contact the Office of Advancement to request information about volunteer opportunities.
