FACTS Financial Application
DeSales utilizes the FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment for its financial aid application and verification process. Parents are responsible for completing the application by the deadline established each year.
Scholarships
DeSales High School is very blessed with the charitable support of alumni and friends who wish to provide support to the young men who attend DeSales. The following named scholarship opportunities are administered and awarded through DeSales High School. All scholarships require a completed FACTS Aid Application on file. Please see below for any additional requirements.Scholarships Based on Merit
Incoming students whose High School Placement Test composite score is in the 90th percentile or higher may apply for this four-year renewable scholarship. Those who score between 90-94 are eligible for a $1,000 renewable award, while those who score a 95 or higher are eligible to receive a $2,500 renewable award.
This $500 tuition scholarship is available annually to one incoming freshman from every Archdiocese of Louisville grade school as recommended by the school's principal.
Scholarships with Specific Requirements
This $1,000 renewable scholarship was established by Tom '68 and Susan Kaelin in honor of Tom's parents, Gabe & Marcella. The student must maintain a 2.5 GPA and parent volunteer involvement at DeSales is required. This scholarship is need-based.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to students who are actively involved in DeSales, church or parish, and community. Student guardian involvement at DeSales is required. A separate application is necessary to complete. Applications open December 1 and must be received by March 31.
This need-based $1,750 scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman who demonstrates high moral character, financial need, and notable academic achievement. An essay is required along with the application. If eligible, the scholarship will follow the student for all four years while at DeSales High School. Make a gift today.
This need-based scholarship is awarded annually in memory of Travis Riley, a former DeSales High School assistant wrestling coach. The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to one student per year with preference given to a student who has had a parent pass away and/or a single-parent household.
The Ty Scroggins Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a freshman annually in memory of Coach Ty Scroggins, a former DeSales High School assistant football coach, and is open to all minority students. This need-based scholarship is renewable and is based on the entrance exam test score. Click here for more information.
Scholarships Based on Financial Need
This scholarship is supported through the generosity of friends and family of Scott ‘84 and Ann Ising in memory of Andrew Ising. This $500, non-renewable scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman, who is a graduate of St. Stephen Martyr. Candidates who qualify may apply here.
This need-based scholarship pays special tribute to the quiet devotion and selfless dedication of Barbara Morgan, DeSales' longest-tenured staff member and 2008 Hall of Honors inductee. Support the scholarship with a gift online
This annual need-based scholarship was founded and is supported through the generosity of the Juanell & Mike Brey ‘65, Greg '89, Eric '92 and Darren '96 Brey Families.
Brown Scholarship
This scholarship, generously funded by Dr. Paul ‘77 and Joyce Brown, is offered to families who have experienced financial hardship during the academic year.
Class of 1965 Scholarship
This financial aid scholarship is available annually to DeSales students who are in good standing and participate in activities both at school and within the community.
Class of 1966 Scholarship
This financial aid scholarship is available annually to DeSales students who are in good standing and participate in activities both at school and within the community.
Class of 1967 Scholarship
This financial aid scholarship is available annually to DeSales students who are in good standing and participate in activities both at school and within the community.
Class of 1971 Scholarship
The scholarship, funded by members of the class of 1971, provides tuition assistance to DeSales families who have demonstrated financial need.
Class of 1987 Scholarship
This financial aid scholarship is available annually to DeSales students who are in good standing and participate in activities both at school and within the community.
Coach Bobby Thompson Scholarship by Wm & Margaret Blandford
This renewable scholarship is in honor of Coach Thompson who had a tremendous influence on Ken Blandford’s ('66) life. This $2,500 scholarship is renewable and may be used toward tuition or fees.
The Flaget Alumni Association has established an Endowment Fund to perpetuate the legacy of Flaget and its support of Catholic high school education. DeSales is grateful to offer a Flaget Scholarship to one or more students annually.
A $1,000 need-based Holy Rosary Scholarship is awarded each year to an incoming freshman based on demonstrated financial need and scholastic achievement. Scholarships are eligible for renewal each year. Preference is given to descendants of Holy Rosary Academy graduates. Application (below) is due by February 28, 2025.

James-Pike Family Scholarship
The James-Pike Family Scholarship is an annual scholarship created through the generosity of Patty and Doug James '80 in honor of their parents, Robert & Peggy James and Jim & Jane Pike. The $1,000 award is a renewable scholarship awarded to an incoming freshman who has demonstrated financial need.
This need-based scholarship endowment is funded by family and friends of Keith Deisenroth, a member of the Class of 1964 who passed away unexpectedly in 2017. Click here for more information.
This need-based scholarship is awarded annually in memory of Tim Keogh, a long-time DeSales High School faculty member and principal from 2001-2007. Make a gift today!
The William T. Owen Scholarship is a $500 need-based award granted to one student annually. This endowed scholarship fund was established by alumnus Dr. John Sansbury ‘69 in memory of his father-in-law, Mr. William T. Owen.
Scholarships Based on Learning Differences
The William B. Schultz Scholarship is a $1,000 need-based award granted as a one-time scholarship to one incoming senior in good academic standing with a learning difference. The student embraces his learning differences and is developing self-advocacy skills. Click here for more information.

Hal VonSick, Jr. '99 Memorial Scholarship
One new scholarship is awarded each year. This is a privately funded scholarship and award recipients are determined by the fund. Hal VonSick, Jr. Memorial Scholarships are renewable for each year. The below applicaiton is open through May 31, 2026. This is a privately funded scholarship and award recipients are determined by the fund. Jeramie Johnson Memorial Scholarships are for one year only.
This annual scholarship is funded and managed by friends and family in memory of Joe Sievert '64.
Established by Charles and Jana Tong in memory of their son, Brandon, this one-time annual award is granted to a freshman who is a practicing Catholic with special consideration given to those involved in the Boy Scouts, those with learning differences, or those participating in regular community service. In order to apply, please complete and return the application below by February 28, 2025.
